Education

I was Commack High School Valedictorian, Class of 1996. Graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Biological Sciences and a GPA of 3.7, in 2000. Graduated from the Emory University School of Law with a JD in 2003. I am an Advanced Placement National Scholar.

Experience

Tutored Chemistry and Calculus while in college; tutored family and friends in biology, chemistry, US History, European History, government/political science, and English/grammar/public speaking. SAT Scores (SAT taken in 1996): 690 (Math); 690 (Verbal). AP National Scholar (given to students who receive grade of "4" or "5" on eight or more AP Exams). AP Chemistry: 5. AP Biology: 5. AP Calculus AB: 5. AP European History: 5. AP US History: 5. AP Spanish Language: 5. AP Physics: 4. AP Macroeconomics: 4. AP English Literature: 4. Learning is not always easy and is not always enjoyable. Every student has his or own gifts and strengths which may not be readily apparent to a teacher or to the student himself or herself. The small fish/big pond environment that is school can be intimidating or frightening. I've discovered, having tutored for over fifteen years, that a "weakness" a student has (a lot of times a "weakness" is something - a skill, for example - that simply has been underdeveloped) can be "solved" by students' strengths. I enjoy teaching the knowledge that I've gained from grade school all the way through law school to others. As I have discovered, teaching concepts requires patience, empathy, humility, good humor, some common sense, ability to interact well with students as well as their parents, and a desire to see students develop not only critical skills but the confidence to apply those skills when required to do so. No student should be afraid to ask a question. Other relevant classes (College): Oral Communication; Speech and Debate; Calculus BC. Other relevant classes (high school): Precalculus, English and American Literature
